Federal law requires every hospital to post a machine-readable file of its standard charges — cash prices and insurer-negotiated rates.

We download and verify them
We pull those files directly from each hospital, throw out placeholder numbers and formula-only rows, and keep only dollar amounts that pass sanity checks.

Every price shows its confidence level, its source file, and the date we retrieved it — with the caveats up front, not in fine print.

Why a surgeon built this
I'm a hip and knee surgeon in Indiana. Patients ask me what things cost, and for most of my career I couldn't answer. The data to answer them now exists — hospitals are required to publish it — but it's buried in files almost nobody can read. This site reads them, checks them, and shows you what holds up.
